Vintage Pioneer Elite VSX-95 Flagship Audio/Video Receiver (Urushi Black) – ISSUE - Read

Vintage 1990s Pioneer Elite VSX-95 flagship audio/video stereo receiver featuring Pioneer’s signature gloss-black Urushi lacquer styling and gold accents.

NO REMOTE

A powerhouse from the golden era of Pioneer Elite engineering: massive power transformer, high-current discrete output stages pushing 125 Watts per channel into 8 ohms in stereo mode, dedicated Phono MM turntable input, multi-room capability, and multi-channel surround processing.

Powers on cleanly with a crisp amber-orange digital display and fully motorized volume knob. Being sold as a project / bench unit due to a grounding hum.

Issue & Diagnosis:

Receiver powers up and audio passes through all channels.

There is an audible electric ground hum. Touching or wiggling the factory metal Pre-Out / Main-In jumpers on the rear panel affects the hum, indicating oxidized jack contacts or a solder joint/ground connection that needs cleaning or reflowing (or simply replacing the pins with shielded RCA patch cables).

Great straightforward project for a Hi-Fi technician, collector, or audio enthusiast.
